Here’s our latest weather outlook for India

5-Day Nationwide Forecast

Two cyclonic circulations across Northwest India, one over Uttar Pradesh and another in Punjab, will produce heavy to very heavy rain across North and Central India for several days. The rainfall will be especially intense on Thursday to Friday, with isolated extremely heavy falls of 200 mm and more possible on Thursday. Rain activity will decrease from Saturday onwards, while moderate to locally heavy rain will continue through next week.

A well-marked low pressure over coastal Bangladesh is slowly moving westwards to reach northern Chhattisgarh this weekend, and further west through next week. This low-pressure will produce heavy rain over East India from Thursday to Friday, before shifting to southern Central India this weekend to early next week. The total rainfall amount during this projection period will reach 200-250 mm across Central Highlands, with possible downpours of over 100 mm per day, along with rising risks of floods, waterlogging and landslides.

An off-shore trough off the west coast of India will produce lingering moderate to locally heavy rain across the west coast regions, especially the Konkan coast, for several days. Continuous 50 mm daily rainfall each day is expected through Friday before moderating weekend. Total rainfall during the next five days will be 100-150 mm across the Maharashtra coast.

Southerly to southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal will bring incessant moderate to locally heavy rain across Northeast India for several days, with daily rainfall of 30-50 mm each day.

As for the mercury levels, the maximum temperatures will be below normal across Central Highland to Gangetic Plain for several days thanks to the rain, while remaining regions will be near or above, locally well above normal.

On the other hand, the minimum temperatures will be well above normal across the Western Himalayan region, and near or slightly above normal across the remainder of India.
