Here’s the weather outlook for the next two days

Saturday (July 9)

  • Heavy to very heavy rains with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Coastal Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and Telangana.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over isolated parts of Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat state, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and South Interior Karnataka.
  • Heavy showers are forecast in isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Stray thunder is expected in Meghalaya, Himalayas, western Himalayas and at the foot of them, Madhya Pradesh and eastern Maharashtra.
  • In the morning, dense fog is possible in the Trans Himalayas.

Sunday (July 10)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is possible in isolated parts of Konkan and Goa.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana.
  • Heavy rainfall is forecast in isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, West Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Stray thunder is expected in the Himalayan, western Himalayan region and at the foot of them, and Madhya Pradesh.
  • Heavy rains are likely in southeastern Gujarat, southeastern Madhya Pradesh, northeastern Maharashtra and northern Telangana.
  • In the morning, dense fog is possible in the Trans Himalayas.

A cyclonic circulation lies over southwest Rajasthan and its neighbouring regions and the monsoon trough is active and south of its normal position. Another off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast while a cyclonic circulation lies over northwest and adjoining the west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh Coasts. Under the collective influence of these systems, the following weather activity is expected:

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall are very likely over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat state, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Karnataka during the next five days.

Isolated very heavy rains are possible over the Gujarat region, Vidarbha on July 9 and 10; Saurashtra and Kutch from July 9 to 11; Madhya Maharashtra and Telangana on July 10; Coastal Karnataka from July 10 to 12; Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and South Interior Karnataka on July 9.

Scattered heavy to very heavy showers with isolated extremely heavy rains are also likely over Coastal Karnataka on July 9, and isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa during the next five days; Telangana on July 9; Gujarat Region from July 11 to 12; Saurashtra and Kutch on July 12 and 13, and over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on July 9 and during July 11 to 13.

Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures will be extreme or quite higher than normal over much of the Trans Himalayas and Western Himalayan Region at least until late July.
