  • Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Sikkim, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
  • Scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
  • Isolated rain is expected over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat.
  • Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are likely to be dry.

Thursday (September 8)

  • Widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated heavy falls are possible in coastal areas over Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms is on the cards over Sikkim, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
  • Scattered rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
  • Isolated rain is on the cards over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat.
  • Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan are likely to be dry.

The monsoon trough is near its normal position. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation lies over South Interior Karnataka and its neighbourhood while a north-south trough runs from Chhattisgarh to the aforementioned cyclonic circulation. Another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the west-central Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 48 hours.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam from September 7-10, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from September 7-8, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe for the next five days. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also possible over Coastal Karnataka on September 8-9, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana on September 7 and 9, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe on September 8. Additionally, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also on the cards over Kerala, Mahe and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka on September 7.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over East Madhya Pradesh on September 8, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada from September 8-11, Odisha, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra from September 7-11, Gujarat Region on September 9, 10 and 11, southwest Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch on September 10 and 11, Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 7 and 8, and over Gangetic West Bengal on September 9-11. Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall has also been forecast over Odisha, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra from September 8-10, Chhattisgarh on September 8-9, Marathwada and Vidarbha on September 9, and over Gujarat on September 10.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Arunachal Pradesh on September 7-8, and over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 7.

Fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand on September 9-10. Subdued rainfall activity will be observed over most parts of northwest India during the next five days.
