  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) at isolated places is possible over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathawada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.

Tuesday (September 6)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is on the cards over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning & gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) at isolated places is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at some places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.

The western end of the monsoon trough runs to the north of its normal position while the eastern end runs along the foothills of the Himalayas. A north-south trough runs from southeast Madhya Pradesh to the Comorin area. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation lies over the Comorin area and its neighbourhood.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next two days.

Additionally, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is possible over Konkan and Goa on September 8-9, Gangetic West Bengal on September 5, East Madhya Pradesh from September 5-6, and over Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from September 5-9. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on September 6-7, and over Chhattisgarh and Odisha on September 9.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been forecast over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and South Interior Karnataka during the next five days, coastal and North Interior Karnataka from September 6-9, Lakshadweep from September 5-6, and coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 8-9. Furthermore, isolated very heavy rainfall is also on the cards over Kerala and Mahe from September 6-8.

Finally, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been predicted over Himachal Pradesh for September 5. Subdued rainfall activity will continue over the plains of Northwest India and over Central India during the next five days.
