Here’s the weather outlook for the next two days:

Friday (June 3)

  • Very heavy rainfalls are likely in some places of Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Especially, extremely heavy rainfalls are possible in isolated places of Meghalaya.
  • Heavy rains have been forecast in some places of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
  • Widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
  • Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
  • Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and North Interior Karnataka.
  • Isolated rain is likely over Odisha, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with a chance of thunderstorms.
  • Max Temperatures above 45°C are likely in isolated places of West Rajasthan.
  • Max Temperatures above 40°C are likely in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
  • Heatwave conditions are forecast over Rajasthan, South Punjab, South Haryana, South Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

Saturday (June 4)

  • Heavy rainfalls are likely in some places of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Especially, very heavy rainfalls are possible in isolated places of Meghalaya.
  • Widespread rain and thunderstorms are possible over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
  • Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms have been forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
  • Scattered rain and thunderstorms are on the cards over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.
  • Isolated rain is likely over Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and North Interior Karnataka, with a chance of thunderstorms.
  • Max Temperatures above 45°C are likely in isolated places of South Uttar Pradesh.
  • Max Temperatures above 40°C are likely in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, remaining Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
  • Heatwave conditions are forecast over Rajasthan, South Punjab, South Haryana, South Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.

The combined effects of a cyclonic circulation over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, an east-west trough from the cyclonic circulation over Southeast Uttar Pradesh to Nagaland, a north-south trough and strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India are likely to result in the following weather occurrences:

  • Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days.
  • Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Assam and Meghalaya till Saturday, and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Monday.
  • Isolated extremely heavy falls over Meghalaya on Friday.
  • Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next five days.

Under the influence of monsoonal westerly winds from the Arabian Sea over the south peninsular India and a shear zone that runs across South Peninsular India, we are likely to experience the following weather occurrences:

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep, and isolated to scattered rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka till Saturday, and over Kerala and Mahe on June 3, 5 and 6.

Heatwave conditions are likely in isolated places over Rajasthan on Friday, over south Punjab, south Haryana, south Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh till Saturday, and over Vidarbha till Sunday.
