Here’s the weather outlook for the next two days.

Wednesday (July 13)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Konkan, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Maharashtra.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is possible over Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and coastal and South Interior Karnataka.
  • Heavy rainfall at isolated places is on the cards over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and squalls (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) have been forecast at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Thursday (July 14)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is possible over East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Gujarat.
  • Heavy rainfall at isolated places is on the cards over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) have been forecast at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

A well-marked low-pressure area lies over south coastal Odisha and its neighbourhood with its associated cyclonic circulation, along with the active monsoon trough that lies south of its normal position. Meanwhile, an east-west shear zone also runs roughly across North Peninsular India. The following weather events over this week are likely to be caused by a combination of these meteorological factors.

Fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Karnataka during the next 4-5 days.

Additionally, isolated very heavy rainfall is possible over West Madhya Pradesh till Sunday, East Madhya Pradesh from Thursday to Saturday, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh coastal and South Interior Karnataka on Wednesday, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on Friday and Saturday, Gujarat on Thursday, Odisha on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Saurashtra & Kutch on Friday.

Isolated extremely heavy falls may also be a possibility over Gujarat on Wednesday, and over Saurashtra, Kutch, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa till Thursday.

Meanwhile, isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall activity has been forecast over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days, while scattered to fairly widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is predicted over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next two days.

Finally, isolated heavy rainfall may lash Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday and Thursday.
