Here’s the weather outlook for the next two days.

Monday (July 11)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall with a chance of extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Telangana and coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Madhya Maharashtra.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is possible over Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra, Kutch, Marathawada and interior Karnataka.
  • Heavy rainfall at isolated places has been forecast over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speeds reaching 30-40 kmph) are very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Rayalaseema. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Tuesday (July 12)

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls at isolated places is very likely over Gujarat, Telangana, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra.
  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast in isolated places over Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Saurashtra, Kutch, Marathawada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
  • Heavy rainfall is possible in isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.
  • Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) are very likely in isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and with lightning at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Rayalaseema.

A low-pressure area lies over coastal areas of south Odisha up to north Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood along with its associated cyclonic circulation. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough is active and south of its normal position while an east-west shear zone runs roughly across North Peninsular India. The combination of these meteorological events as well as an off-shore trough at mean sea level running from the Gujarat coast to the north Kerala coast is likely to result in the following weather events over the next five days.

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning with isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Mahe, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Karnataka during the next 4-5 days.

Meanwhile, isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Saurashtra, Kutch and Marathawada on Monday and Tuesday, coastal Karnataka on Thursday and Friday, Kerala and Mahe from Wednesday to Friday, Interior Karnataka and East Madhya Pradesh on Monday, West Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, Odisha from Tuesday to Friday, Vidarbha on Wednesday, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday and Thursday.

Isolated to scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is on the cards over Telangana till Tuesday, Gujarat, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan and Goa till Friday, Saurashtra and Kutch from Wednesday to Friday, coastal Karnataka till Wednesday, Chhattisgarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh on Monday and Vidarbha till Tuesday.

Isolated to scattered rainfall activity has been forecast over Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days. Apart from this, we can expect fairly widespread to widespread rainfall and isolated thunderstorms with lightning during the next five days with:

  • Isolated heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh till Wednesday and over Uttarakhand till Friday.
  • Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand till Tuesday.

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated thunderstorms and lightning are also very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan while isolated to scattered rainfall is possible over Uttar Pradesh during the next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh from Wednesday to Friday and over East Rajasthan till Friday.
