5-Day Nationwide Forecast

A cyclonic circulation lies over southern Gujarat on Wednesday and will move towards the west coast of Gujarat on Thursday. The system may stall off the Gujarat coast for a few days later this week. Heavy rains are likely across Saurashtra from Wednesday to Thursday, with a total of 100- 150 mm rainfall.

Another cyclonic circulation is likely to develop off the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. This cyclonic cyclone will be large enough to produce wide northwesterly winds along its western side. It will bring widely scattered or fairly widespread rain with heavy showers across the Deccan Plateau and Central Highlands for several days. The daily rainfall is expected to amount to 30 mm to 50 mm across these regions until early next week.

Meanwhile, moist winds from the Bay of Bengal will result in moderate to locally heavy rainfall with 30 mm to 50 mm of daily rain across Northeast India and northern portions of East and Central India for several days.

An off-shore trough is expected to bring continuous showers across the western coast of the subcontinent throughout this week. A daily rainfall of 30 mm to 50 mm is expected.

In terms of mercury levels, this week, the maximum and minimum temperatures are noted to be well above normal across the Western Himalayan Region and northern portions of Northeast India.

  • Heavy rains are expected to lash parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
  • Widespread rains with thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa and Coastal Karnataka.
  • Fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms are possible over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
  • Scattered rains with thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Chhattisgarh, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka.
  • Isolated rains with thunderstorms are likely over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, West Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
  • The maximum temperatures are not likely to cross 40°C in India.

  • Very heavy rains are likely over parts of Gujarat.
  • Heavy rains are expected over parts of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, East Rajasthan, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and South Interior Karnataka. Widespread rains with thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Saurashtra, Kutch, Konkan, Goa, Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.
  • Fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms are expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, East Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep.
