Here’s our latest weather outlook for India

5-Day Nationwide Forecast

A Monsoon trough lies along the northern plains, while a low-pressure area and a cyclonic circulation are located on the trough. The low-pressure system lingering over Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh will bring widespread rainfall over the region and adjoining Rajasthan with some isolated heavy falls Sunday to Monday.

The low-pressure area is expected to gradually weaken and the wind direction around Delhi-NCR will gradually shift to the northwesterly towards the middle of the next week bringing an end to the rainfall over northern plains.

A cyclonic circulation over the border of West Bengal and Bangladesh brings active thunderstorms over the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also forecasts isolated heavy rains are over east Uttar Pradesh, North Bengal and Sikkim from August 10 to 12, while Uttarakhand may witness heavy showers on August 11.

The circulation over eastern India is expected to maintain its intensity or slightly intensify for the next few days. As a result, the heaviest rainfall over the next five days will be over northeastern India, with total rainfall accumulation exceeding 200 mm in some places.

Maximum temperatures will be 4 to 8°C higher than normal across southwestern parts of the peninsula through this forecast period. Overnight minimums will be slightly above normal across the Himalayan region and along the Bay of Bengal.
