With remote meetings becoming a regular part of daily work life, it’s important to have headphones/earbuds that work out-the-box with the most popular video conferencing platforms. So Logitech decided to launch the first earbuds that are certified for Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Both wired and wireless versions of these new Zone earbuds will be offered. The Zone True Wireless Earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.0 and have a range of up to 30 meters. They feature active noise-canceling (ANC) for audio and a noise-canceling mic, as well as being able to connect to a PC (via the included USB receiver) and a smartphone simultaneously. Customization is available using the Logi Tune app.
In fact, each wireless earbud contains three mics to “distinguish your voice from other sounds through a combination of advanced beamforming, cascaded noise reduction and dynamic processing.” There’s also a Transparency Mode meant to make it easier to have an in-person chat without having to remove the earbuds.
The battery life of the earbuds is rated at six hours talk time or nine hours listening time with ANC turned on. Without ANC those times get extended to 6.5 hours and 12 hours respectively. The included charging case can extend battery life 2.5x, and Logitech included support for Qi Wireless charging. The charging time for the earbuds is two hours and 45 minutes, while the case takes three hours to fully recharge. A five-minute quick charge gains you two hours of listening time.
The Zone Wired Earbuds are a more basic option, but still carry the same certification for Meet, Teams, and Zoom, as well as including noise-canceling mics in the left earbud. You can connect them to your PC via USB-C or USB-A with an adapter included in the box. Android and iOS are supported assuming your device has a 3.5mm port or an appropriate adapter available. Controlling volume, answering and ending calls, or pausing playback can be done using the in-line controller on the cable.
Logitech intends to release both Zone models in the fall globally, with the Zone True Wireless earbuds costing $299 and the Zone Wired Earbuds costing $99. As well as being certified for Meet, Teams, and Zoom, Logitech says they’ll work with other popular platforms including Cisco Webex, BlueJeans, GoToMeeting, Skype for Business, and Google Voice.
