5-Day Nationwide Forecast

The monsoon trough lies over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and the northeast Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, a well-marked low-pressure area is present over Jharkhand and Bihar on Saturday morning. The system is likely to move west-northwestward and it will reach around east Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning, thereafter, north Madhya Pradesh by Monday.

The system is expected to persist around north Madhya Pradesh from Tuesday. The well-marked low-pressure area is likely to bring fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms over East India and the adjoining areas on Saturday. Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail over Central India and the adjoining area from Sunday onward.

In North India, the westerly winds from the Arabian Sea and easterly winds have been forecast to convergence over plain areas of the region from Saturday onward. Therefore, fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected over the plain areas of North India and adjoining parts from Saturday onward.

Some parts of east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh may also experience heavy to extremely heavy rain on Saturday. Moreover, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to batter isolated places of Chhattisgarh and Sikkim on Saturday. The total accumulation of three days is likely to be around 200 mm to 250 mm over east Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh from Saturday to Monday.

On Sunday, heavy to extremely heavy rain is likely to pound over isolated places of east Rajasthan and west Madhya Pradesh, while parts of east Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to face the brunt of heavy to very heavy rain.

The offshore trough is likely to persist from off Maharashtra coast to the Karnataka coast. Fairly widespread to widespread rains with isolated heavy rain is expected over coastal Maharashtra, Goa and coastal Karnataka in this period.

Lastly, the maximum temperatures are expected to be below normal over the plain area of North India and adjoining areas in this period. The temperatures are noted to be below normal over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas on Saturday.

Meanwhile for South and West India, the mercury levels will be higher than average in this period.
