5-Day Nationwide Forecast
The western end of the monsoon trough lies close to the foothills of the Himalayas, while the eastern end is near its normal position. The western end of the monsoon trough is likely to remain north of its normal position during the next 3-4 days.
A cyclonic circulation was over the west-central Bay of Bengal on Sunday and is expected to move west-northwestward in this period. The system could be over the Odisha coast on Tuesday and over Chhattisgarh by Wednesday. It would reach around east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas by Thursday.
This system is likely to bring fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms over parts of East India, Central India and adjoining areas in this period. Moreover, heavy to very heavy rain is possible over isolated places of Odisha on Monday and Tuesday. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely over isolated places of Andhra Pradesh on Monday and over Telangana on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal are likely to bring humidity over Northeast India and fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms over the region in this period. Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain over isolated places on Monday.
The offshore trough persists off Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast. Therefore, fairly widespread to widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over coastal Maharashtra, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Kerala in this period. Heavy rain is possible over isolated places of coastal Maharashtra and Goa from Tuesday onward.
Maximum temperatures are noted to be higher than normal over West, Central, East and South India on Monday. The maximum temperatures could go down around Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from Monday. Lastly, the minimum temperatures are noted to be near normal across India.

- Widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, coastal Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, east Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
