Here’s our latest weather outlook for India

5-Day Nationwide Forecast

A well-marked low-pressure system is located over West Uttar Pradesh as of Tuesday. At the southwestern side of the low system, northwesterly winds wrapping around the low and westerly winds blowing in from the Arabian Sea will converge to produce downpours with 100-150 mm daily rainfall across East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The rainfall will be moderate from Wednesday with daily precipitation of 50-80 mm, but it will further taper off late this week.

Further, as per the IMD, the current spell of scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity will continue over the remaining parts of North India, with isolated heavy falls very likely over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh during the next five days. Isolated heavy falls are also in the forecast over Haryana during the next three days, and Himachal Pradesh during August 4-5.

Onshore winds will bring continuous days of showers, with 30-50 mm daily rainfall forecast across the western coastal regions throughout this week.

Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation stalls over Bangladesh. While active rain areas are confined to the southern side of the CC, East and Northeast India will receive persistent moderate to locally heavy rain for several days. The total rainfall amount could accumulate to 100-150 mm during this projection period.

Lastly, reduced rainfall activity is likely to continue over Peninsular India and adjoining east-central India, Maharashtra and Gujarat state during the next 4-5 days.

As for the mercury levels, maximum temperatures will be above to well above normal across much of India throughout this week, except for East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh, where the reading will be below normal due to rainfall.

On the other hand, the minimum temperatures will be near or above normal across India for several days. A warmer trend will be notable across the West Himalayan region.

Weekly rainfall accumulation forecast across India till August 8.
