5-Day Nationwide Forecast
A monsoon trough lies over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and foothills of the Himalayas on Wednesday morning.
Southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal will result in humidity in Northeast India. Therefore, the Northeast and the adjoining regions are likely to experience widespread rains, isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, fairly widespread to widespread rains with isolated heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected from Friday onwards.
Heavy to extremely heavy rains are expected over isolated areas of Assam and Meghalaya, with the possibility of a 24-hour precipitation accumulation of 150 mm on Wednesday. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely over isolated areas of Bihar on Wednesday and Thursday and isolated regions of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim between Wednesday and Friday.
A cyclonic circulation could form over the west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal on Friday.
The offshore trough will be observed from the Maharashtra coast to the Kerala coast, and a cyclonic circulation is likely to persist around Kerala and Tamil Nadu during this period. As a result, fairly widespread to widespread rain with isolated heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected across coastal Maharashtra, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu in this period.
The maximum temperatures are higher than usual over West, South and south-central India in this period. Conversely, maximum temperatures are lower than normal over the plain areas of North, north-central, and Northeast India during this period. The minimum temperatures are slightly higher than normal over the Western Himalayan Region in this period but other areas are near normal.

- Heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely over isolated regions of Assam and Meghalaya.
- Heavy to very heavy rains are expected over isolated regions of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Bihar.
- Heavy rains are likely over isolated areas of east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu.
- Widespread rains and thunderstorms are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over West Bengal, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
- Scattered rains and thunderstorms are likely over Odisha, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, interior Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
- Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible over west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.
- The maximum temperatures are likely to cross 40°C over isolated places of west Rajasthan.
Thursday
- Heavy to very heavy rains are expected over isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Bihar and Uttarakhand.
- Heavy rain is likely over isolated regions of East Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
- Widespread rains and thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
- Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorm are likely over Odisha, east Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Telangana.
- Scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, interior Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
- Isolated rain and thunderstorm are possible over west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.
- The maximum temperatures are likely to be above 40°C over isolated regions of west Rajasthan.
