Here’s our latest weather outlook for India
5-Day Nationwide Forecast
The western end of the monsoon trough is gradually shifting towards the foothills of the Himalayas, and as a result, dry westerly winds will be dominant across Punjab-Haryana to Gujarat in the coming days. The rainy area is expected to recede eastward at least until Friday. Also, the forecast model shows a possibility for the rain area to move back to the east this weekend onwards and into the following week.
In contrast to the northwest, heavy rain is set to affect Northeastern India, especially between Tuesday and Thursday. The best showers are expected across Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya for the next five days. The rains in these areas are spread widely over 150 mm, likely reaching 300 mm in a 5-day total. Flash flooding isn’t outside of the risk.
On the other hand, rains are expected to subside in the southwest coastal areas for a while. They may, however, intensify slightly toward Friday.
The maximum temperatures will be on the cooler side along the northern plains for the next five days, but on the hotter side across the southwestern Peninsula. The overnight minimums will be above normal across the Himalayan region for the next five days.
