AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is up to 24% faster than Core i9-13900K in gaming
AMD has revealed first official benchmark results for its upcoming Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
According to the slides shared by Tom’s Hardware, AMD has now confirmed official performance for its upcoming 8-core Ryzen 7 CPU with 3D V-Cache. Only a few benchmarks were shared from handpicked titles, so this is definitely too early to draw final conclusions.
The 7800X3D has 8 cores, L3 cache of 96MB, TDP rated at 120W and boost clock up to 5.0 GHz. That’s 15W higher TDP than 8-Core Ryzen 7 7700X and 400 MHz lower boost clock compared to non-X3D SKU. This CPU was compared to 24-core Core i9-13900K processor, the second-best Raptor Lake desktop CPU from Intel. What may be important to note is that both the 7800X3D and 13900K systems were equipped with the same DDR5-6000 memory kit.
Today AMD is sharing 1080p gaming performance in competitive titles, such as Rainbow Six Siege, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn. Given AMD numbers, the 7800X3D would be 13% to 24% faster than the Core i9-13900K. On average, we are looking at 19.5% better performance, but one should remember those are vendor-provided benchmarks so final performance may vary.

According to AMD benchmarks, 8-core Ryzen with Zen4 architecture 3D V-Cache would be 21% to 30% faster than last-gen Zen3 CPU with 3D V-Cache (5800X3D). On average, that’s also an improvement of 24%. For this comparison, AMD has changed three titles to Warhammer Dawn of War II, CS:GO and DOTA2.
Tom’s Hardware notes that AMD provided benchmarks indicate that 7800X3D will be within 5% of Ryzen 9 7950X3D performance but at $250 lower price. This 8-core CPU will also be $130 cheaper than what Core i9-13900K is currently selling for.
